After his participation in the Olympic Games this summer, Julian Alaphilippe was back on the road in Belgium last weekend. His wife Marion Rousse published some lovely photos of him and his son Nino on Instagram.
All behind him! It was a family return to the track for Julian Alaphilippe on Sunday, September 22. The French cyclist went to Belgium to participate in the Super 8 Classic, a road cycling race held in Flanders. At his side, his wife Marion Rousse, and his son Nino (3 years old) were there to support him.

“First race of the year in “tourist” mode, that’s not bad either…” Marion Rousse said on Instagram . The director of the Women’s Tour de France posted adorable photos of her son with his father at the end of the race. A video also shows him applauding Julian’s performance and shouting his name, as a form of encouragement.
Amazed, but also somewhat intimidated by the cameras, the little boy did not let go of the 32-year-old cyclist’s hand, nor that of his teddy bear. Whether on the side of the road, on the podium or even in an interview, Julian Alaphilippe wanted to share his passion with his son, for the duration of the event.

Julian Alaphilippe is not the only one in the family to have a hobby of two-wheeled sports. His wife Marion Rousse, also had a short but intense career as a cyclist . Promising and passionate from the schoolyard, the Frenchwoman turned professional at the age of 18. In 2012, she was crowned double French Road Champion, in the Elite and Espoir categories.
Yet just three years later, the then 24-year-old was forced to end her career after a fall during a race near Shanghai. She has since worked as a consultant for France Télévisions and was appointed director of the Tour de France Femmes in 2021.More after this ad
Despite her career change, Marion Rousse continues to live her passion for competition through her husband, Julian. The young woman regularly takes Nino to encourage his father during his races, and sometimes shares photos of their family bike rides. In 2023, she showed the little boy, aboard his small trailer, attached to the back of his father’s bike, he who was still too small to pedal.
After Belgium, Julian Alaphilippe heads to SwitzerlandWhile he is currently racing with the Soudal Quick-Step team since 2013, Julian Alaphilippe broke his contract with the Belgian team a few months ago. The double world champion announced at the beginning of August that he would be joining the Swiss team Tudor Pro Cycling at the end of the current season. His race in Flanders was therefore one of his last in Belgian colours.
“After more than ten years in the same team, it was time for a change […]. What better way to mark a turning point in my career than with an ambitious new project?”, explained the road cycling specialist in the press release published by Tudor Pro Cycling .
An announcement that Julian Alaphilippe made shortly after his participation in the Paris Olympic Games this summer. An emotional summer with the French team, with whom he won two silver medals and a bronze, although he did not achieve a personal victory.
