A documentary featuring the former Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer’s time in South Africa will air on S3 (DStv 193) on Sunday, 11 December, at 16:00.

 

In Roger Federer – The Reunion, the talented sportsman returns to his mother’s home country to battle his arch-rival and break yet another world record: The Match in Africa.

 

After years of professionally and successfully touring the ATP world, Roger Federer realised his long-aspired dream: to play in his mother’s home country, battling his biggest rival, Rafael Nadal, while raising funds for his foundation. The match was documented a few weeks before all social gatherings were banned due to the Covid-19 pandemic and led by Bill Gates, Trevor Noah, the two tennis champions, and over 50 000 fans at the Cape Town stadium.

 

This documentary follows the tennis legend throughout these extraordinary days around this touching event. It reveals the various facets of the match relating to Roger’s professional and personal life.
