Renowned televangelist Benny Hinn has officially been banned from holding podcast meetings after a recent episode sparked controversy, leading to growing religious tensions. The decision comes in the wake of heated debates surrounding comments he made that were perceived as fueling rivalry between Christian and Islamic communities.
The controversy erupted after Hinn’s latest podcast episode aired, during which he made statements that critics claim drew divisive comparisons between Christianity and Islam. While some of his supporters argued that he was simply expressing his faith, others—including interfaith leaders—condemned the remarks as inflammatory and potentially harmful.
Within hours, social media was flooded with debates over the pastor’s words, with religious groups and advocacy organizations calling for accountability. In response to the backlash, several major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify, removed the episode from their services. Shortly after, Hinn was officially barred from hosting future podcast meetings, a move that has since intensified the controversy.
Podcasting networks released a joint statement explaining the decision: “We believe in freedom of speech, but we also have a responsibility to ensure that our platforms do not promote divisive rhetoric that could incite religious hostility.”
Hinn’s ministry has pushed back against the ban, calling it an attack on religious expression. In a statement, his team said, “Pastor Benny Hinn has always preached love, healing, and salvation. His words have been taken out of context, and we are deeply saddened by this decision.”
Despite the suspension, Hinn’s followers remain steadfast, with many vowing to continue supporting his teachings through alternative platforms. However, the incident has raised broader concerns about the intersection of faith, free speech, and the responsibilities of public platforms in managing religious discourse.
