England Announce Long Overdue Statue For Music Legend Motorhead After Several Years…Read More

After years of passionate campaigning from fans and musicians alike, England has finally announced plans to unveil a permanent statue in honor of legendary Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister marking nearly a decade since his passing in December 2015.

The statue, set to be installed in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Lemmy’s birthplace will serve as a tribute to one of Britain’s most influential and iconic rock figures. Local officials confirmed that the unveiling ceremony is scheduled for late 2025, coinciding with what would have been Lemmy’s 80th birthday.

A lifelong rock ‘n’ roll rebel, Lemmy was known for his gravel-throated vocals, thunderous bass playing, and no-compromise attitude. As the founding member of Motörhead, he spearheaded a sound that bridged punk and metal, influencing generations of artists across genres. Tracks like “Ace of Spades” an“Overkill” remain anthems of defiance to this day.

“This statue isn’t just about music,” said Sarah Moore, a representative from the Stoke City Council. “It’s about recognizing a cultural icon who carried British rock to global heights and never forgot his roots.”

Designed by acclaimed sculptor Alex Carrington, the statue will depict Lemmy in his signature look—boots, hat, Rickenbacker bass, and a fierce stare—standing tall as a symbol of raw, unapologetic artistry. The base will feature etched fan messages and lyrics from Motörhead classics.

While a smaller tribute already exists in Los Angeles at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, this marks the first major public monument to Lemmy on English soil a long-overdue recognition for a man who embodied rock’s rebellious spirit.

Fans from around the world are expected to attend the unveiling, turning Burslem into a pilgrimage site for metalheads and rock lovers alike.
