Liverpool FC has approved a petition to erect a seven-foot statue of the late Diogo Jota at Anfield, honoring the beloved player’s legacy. Jota, who played for Liverpool from 2020 until his tragic passing in July 2025, left an indelible mark on the club and its fans.

The statue, expected to be completed by January 2026, will serve as a permanent tribute to Jota’s contributions to the team. The project follows a petition started by fans, which garnered significant support, highlighting Jota’s impact on and off the pitch.

Jota’s family and loved ones will be involved in the design and unveiling process, ensuring the statue accurately reflects his spirit and dedication to Liverpool. The club has already begun working on the memorial, with players wearing a “Forever 20” emblem on their shirts for the 2025/26 season.

The statue will be a focal point for fans to pay their respects and celebrate Jota’s achievements. Liverpool FC has also announced plans to retire Jota’s No. 20 shirt and create a grassroots football program in his name through the LFC Foundation.

Jota’s untimely passing in a car crash on July 3, 2025, shocked the football world. He was 26 years old and had made 182 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 65 goals. His legacy will be remembered through the permanent memorial and ongoing tributes.
