Serena Williams Posts Candid Postpartum Video and Message on IG: ‘I Always Feel Guilty’

Practicing self-care as a busy mom is no easy feat, but it’s essential—and Serena Williams knows this all too well.
Earlier this week, the tennis legend and entrepreneur, 42, shared a candid video of herself getting a radio-frequency treatment during her spa day on Instagram. In the caption, she opened up about how challenging it has been to step away from her parenting duties to focus on her own well-being.
Williams wrote, “Being OK to take time for myself is something I have always struggled with. I finally started being OK to take an hour (during nap time) away from my kids and work to do something for myself. I always feel guilty leaving them, but I have to also remember taking care of myself, will only help me take better care of them.”
Williams went on to explain how one of her friends treated her to a special spa day, adding that she could feel her “confidence coming back.”
“[My friend] knows after two babies I have been self-conscious of my tummy,” she continued. “I just had to post this video she took. The results have been amazing.” (FYI, radio-frequency or RF treatments are non-surgical skin tightening procedures that use radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and firm loose skin.)
The former athlete added, “I will always love my birthing scars, but I just wanted to say thanks to my friend Mia and Nat for letting me know it’s ok to take time for myself away from work and kids.”
Several fans offered words of encouragement and support, while others thanked the 23-time Grand Slam winner for her vulnerability.
