Dyche angry over lack of contract extensions offered to senior players

Burnley manager Sean Dyche is unhappy with the club over their reluctance to extend the contracts of several senior players whose deals expire this month.
Five players are out of contract at Turf Moor on June 30, including stalwarts Phil Bardsley and Jeff Hendrick, but the club have so far only offered them one-month extensions to enable them to play until the planned completion date of the Premier League on July 26.

Neither defender Bardsley nor midfielder Hendrick have yet signed the amended contracts, although they have been training with the squad.
In addition to Bardsley and Hendrick, Joe Hart, Aaron Lennon and back-up goalkeeper Adam Legzdins are also out of contract this month.
Burnley’s approach to contract negotiations has been a source of frustration for the technical staff for some time.

One-year extensions given to Ashley Westwood and Robbie Brady this year are the only new contracts the club has agreed since November.
Dyche is thought to be particularly concerned about losing Bardsley.
Despite turning 35 later this month, the former Manchester United full-back is still seen as an important player by the manager.
With the transfer market expected to contract this summer due to the impact of the pandemic, such experienced players available on free transfers are likely to be in demand when the window opens, and the fear of jeopardising a move by getting injured could lead some of them to reject short-term extensions.
Joe Hart and Aaron Lennon are also on their way out of the club unless plans change at Burnley
Top-flight clubs have until June 23 to agree extensions with out-of-contract players following a rule change by the Premier League last month.
After that date, free agents can sign to
play for other clubs next season.
