Tadej Pogačar, the Slovenian cyclist and three-time Tour de France champion, recently addressed the doping accusations that surfaced following his latest victory. In a press conference, Pogačar firmly denied any wrongdoing, stating, “I have never used performance-enhancing drugs. My victories are a result of hard work, rigorous training, and the support of my incredible team.”
Pogačar highlighted the rigorous testing protocols he has undergone throughout his career, including during the Tour de France. “I have been tested numerous times, both in and out of competition, and all results have been negative. I am fully transparent and welcome any additional scrutiny.”
The UAE Team Emirates, with whom Pogačar rides, echoed his sentiments. Team Director Joxean Fernández Matxin emphasized the team’s commitment to clean sport and advanced training techniques. “We adhere to the highest standards of integrity. Tadej’s performance is a testament to his talent and dedication, not to any illicit substances.”
Pogačar acknowledged the sport’s troubled history with doping but stressed the importance of moving forward. “Cycling has a past that we cannot ignore, but I am committed to being part of a new generation that prioritizes fairness and transparency. These accusations are disheartening, but they only strengthen my resolve to compete cleanly.”
Despite the controversy, Pogačar remains focused on his future goals. “I will continue to race and win with integrity. My passion for cycling and my desire to inspire others to achieve their dreams honestly will not be diminished by these unfounded accusations,” he concluded.
