Crystal Palace submit €15m bid for Marseille’s Ismaïla Sarr

Crystal Palace FC have submitted an opening €15m bid to Olympique de Marseille for Senegal international winger Ismaïla Sarr (26), according to a report this Tuesday from Foot Mercato. The former Watford player is reportedly keen to return to the Premier League with an agreement on personal terms close to be reached. The outlet understands that Sarr has given his agreement in principle to join Oliver Glasner’s Eagles. Sarr initially joined Marseille from Watford in a €13m move, tying the 2021 AFCON winner with a contract set to expire in 2028.

Sarr’s debut season in Southern France was underwhelming. He only logged five goals and six assists in 35 games. Foot Mercato understands that Palace lodged a €15m bid, which means Marseille would make an unexpected profit should they accept the bid. Club-to-club talks and contractual negotiations between Sarr and Palace based on a five-year deal are reportedly underway.

Marseille are planning a full revamp of their attack with Iliman Ndiaye (24), Vitinha (24) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (35) already all sold. Les Phocéens have signed Mason Greenwood (22) from Manchester United and are pushing to sign Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah (25). Sarr’s exit may accelerate Marseille’s move for the Gunners’ centre-forward.
