Former WNBA All-Star Does Not Hold Back With Caitlin Clark Declaration

Caitlin Clark has taken the world by storm. The Indiana Fever star’s arrival in the league was one of the sparks that ignited the evolution of the WNBA. Even as a rookie, Clark’s reach has been critical to the success of the league.
It’s no surprise, then, that a few former stars of the league recognized this impact. Two-time WNBA All-Star forward Chiney Ogwumike hopped on the Awful Announcing podcast recently. In that interview, Ogwumike called Clark the most impactful player in a generation.
“She is the most impactful player that I’ve seen hit the scene, not even just in basketball, but in sports, in a generation,” Ogwumike told host Brandon Contes, “for how she moves a needle not only with viewership, but business. And that rising tide lifts all boats. And the reason why I say for a generation is because I have the lived experience.”
Ogwumike says that she played with many greats, like Maya Moore, Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie. However, Clark is bringing this beautiful game to new heights. And while her fans might infer praise for others as a dig at Clark, Ogwumike doesn’t think of it that way.
“You have to celebrate those who are advancing the game but also recognize that Caitlin is doing things at a speed — at lightspeed for us — with our business, with our growth, with our viewership,” she said.

Clark’s arrival in the WNBA has accelerated the growth of a league that’s been rising steadily in the last few years. She has turned many of her fans into fans of the game, not just her. It’s truly
amazing to see.
