Dallas Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance is unlikely to see the field when the Cowboys play his old San Francisco 49ers team in Week 5. But he could still have a role in the game regardless.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer announced that the team will be talking to Lance about how the 49ers offense works in hopes of being better prepared for it.
“Trey knows a little bit about what they’re doing,” Schottenheimer said, via NBCSportsBayArea.com. “The cool thing is, like I said, the [Cowboys] know them well, I know them well from being in Seattle, Trey knows them well.”
NFL fans weren’t exactly concerned for the 49ers with this revelation. Many pointed out that Lance’s inability to learn the offense is what led to his ousting from the team in the first place:
Brian Schottenheimer has always downplayed the value that such an endeavor would have on the team’s preparation anyway.
