Business decline has forced Roger Federer to make a controversial decision

Swiss legend has raised ticket prices for the Laver Cup

Fans are excited to see top players like Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz in action again, but this year’s event comes with a notable twist: a significant hike in ticket prices that has sparked surprise and concern within the tennis community.

Founded by Roger Federer in 2017, the Laver Cup features a showdown between six European players and six from the rest of the world. It has quickly become a prestigious fixture in the tennis calendar.

This year’s edition, set to take place at Berlin’s Uber Arena starting September 20, promises to deliver high-level competition.

However, the soaring ticket prices are casting a shadow over the excitement. Some tickets have surged to 4,420 euros, with even the least expensive seats starting around 300 euros.

These prices far exceed those of many other tournaments, including the recently concluded US Open, where the priciest seats were around 1,500 euros.

Why has Roger Federer raised prices?

The steep ticket prices come amidst reports of financial struggles for

the tournament.
