The Edmonton Oilers center was laser-focused on winning the Stanley Cup during the playoffs. He was on a mission to bring the Cup to Edmonton, but fell one win short.
That business-like attitude is a huge tremendous strength of his. It can also leave a little to be desired with some of his answers to media questions.

On Monday July 15th, he attended the Zach Hyman Celebrity Classic charity golf tournament. McDavid, Hyman and Connor Brown all spoke to the media while attending the event.
For McDavid, his media scrum was kicked off with a question about processing the end of the playoffs. He was quick to hop in and give a non-answer, “I’m not here to do a big story for you guys.”
Instead, he spoke about Hyman, and the need to support a teammate who is trying to leave the world better than how he found it, “I’m here to support Zach and his causes. He’s a great teammate and a great friend. It’s important to be here and support his initiatives.”
McDavid is looking to turn the page. He clearly doesn’t want to spend more time thinking about “what ifs” or other things that aren’t helpful to him moving forward.
He’s a tremendously motivated athlete, who doesn’t need to share his every thought with the media and fans. Whatever lessons he has taken from the deep Stanley Cup run, he doesn’t have to share. Would it be cool if he did?
Of course it would.
