Caitlin Clark picked up right where she left off on Friday night after the WNBA’s month-long Olympic break. The Indiana Fever star was snubbed from the Team USA contingent that ultimately won the gold medal in the Paris Games, which was the reason behind the mid-season hiatus for the WNBA.
Clark came out with a bang in her first game back, though, dropping a team-high 29 points on 8-of-16 shooting, to go along with five rebounds, 10 assists, and four triples in their 98-89 victory against the Phoenix Mercury.
One of Clark’s 10 dimes came in the dying seconds of the third quarter when she opted to turn down an opportunity for a buzzer-beating shot. Instead, the 22-year-old dropped a perfect dime for teammate Katie Lou Samuelson, who for her part, gladly obliged by hitting the open trey to close out the quarter.

After the win, Clark opened up about her decision to find an open teammate instead of taking the shot herself.
“She was wide open,” Clark told reporters. “… She was almost like too open. I was like, ‘Oh s***.'”
Clark has had her fair share of incredible heroics throughout her career, and a buzzer-beater never goes unnoticed. However, the Fever rookie is an elite playmaker as well, and she has an innate knack for always looking for the
better shot.
