Tim Henman’s former trainer thinks he knows what Emma Raducanu can do reduce her injuries
Over the course of her first two full seasons on the WTA Tour, Emma Raducanu suffered multiple injuries and in 2023 she underwent double wrist and ankle surgery.
Due to her injury history, the former World number 10 has been very cautious about her schedule and has tried to prioritise certain tournaments this season.
For example, Raducanu did not play in the Olympic Games in a bid to be ready for the North American hard court swing. But she played just one tournament in the lead up to the Grand Slam and suffered a first round exit at the hands of Sofia Kenin.
This is why physical trainer Kieron Vorster, who worked with Tim Henman, told Mail Online that Raducanu needs to play more matches to build up the physical strength and conditioning needed to play consistently on the WTA Tour.
“But you can train as hard as you like — if you don’t have that match fitness, your body is not hardened and robust enough to play match after match after match,” he said.

“You can practice until you’re blue in the face but you can’t replicate match conditions, that intensity and nerves when you’re 4-4 in the third serving at 0-30.”
There was also plenty of scrutiny on Raducanu for the number of coaching changes she has experienced in her career as many called for her to have some stability, especially this
early in her career.
