Dr. Tony Evans, the esteemed pastor, author, and speaker, passed away today at the age of 75. Born on September 10, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Evans dedicated his life to ministry and education. He founded Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, in 1976, growing it from a small gathering to a congregation of over 10,000 members. As the founder of The Urban Alternative, his radio broadcast, “The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans,” reached audiences worldwide. In June 2024, Dr. Evans stepped back from ministry due to personal reasons, as reported by Christianity Today. He is survived by his wife, Carla, whom he married in 2023, and his four children. Dr. Evans’ profound impact on Christian ministry and his teachings on faith and community will be remembered by many.
