Indigenous All-Stars Boost Coaching Roster: Roger Hayden & Chance Bateman Set for Fremantle Showdown!

The Indigenous All-Stars have strengthened their coaching panel ahead of their highly anticipated showdown against Fremantle at Optus Stadium on February 15, 2025. Roger Hayden and Chance Bateman join an all-Indigenous coaching team led by Xavier Clarke, marking a historic moment for Indigenous representation in the AFL.

Hayden, a former Fremantle Dockers defender and current Male Next Generation Academy and Game Development Coach at Fremantle, brings invaluable experience to the team. Bateman, a Hawthorn premiership player and West Coast Eagles’ First Nations Player Development Manager, also steps into a key role, further enriching the squad’s leadership.

The Indigenous All-Stars team features a star-studded lineup, including Callum Ah Chee, Shai Bolton, Charlie Cameron, Bobby Hill, Brad Hill, Jarman Impey, Alex Pearce, Kysaiah Pickett, Liam Ryan, Izak Rankine, and Michael Walters. The match marks the return of the Indigenous All-Stars after a decade-long hiatus, with the previous game played in 2015.

This event is a celebration of First Nations culture, talent, and history, providing a platform to showcase Indigenous excellence in Australian Rules Football. Fans can expect an electrifying contest as the best Indigenous players take on Fremantle, a club with deep ties to Indigenous heritage.
