Roger Federer responds when asked if he misses playing tennis now that he’s retired

Roger Federer talked about the strange feeling he has as a retired tennis player.

 

The Swiss Maestro made an emotional exit from the game when he played his final match at the 2022 Laver Cup at London’s O2 Arena.

 

The upcoming edition for the event is being played in Berlin, Germany and Roger Federer is in attendance to watch Team Europe and Team World do battle once again.

 

The 20-time Grand Slam champion was part of three victorious Team Europe sides, but they have not lifted the Laver Cup trophy since 2021 and will be desperate to regain the coveted trophy this weekend.

 

Does Roger Federer miss tennis now that he is retired?

Federer enjoyed an illustrious career spanning more than 20 years and he was content with his decision to stop playing in 2022 at the age of 41.

 

Two years on, Federer arrived in Berlin in time for the start of the latest edition of the Laver Cup and took to the court to have some rallies.

 

After doing that, he joined the AO Show podcast and described the feeling like a guest whenever he plays on a court that active competitors use.

 

“I don’t know what it is but right now standing on a court makes you feel I could just walk over there and grab a racket,” Federer said when asked if he misses tennis. “If you are just coming as a guest or sitting in the stadium it doesn’t have the same feeling.

 

“But before I walked across the court, I was like am I allowed? It feels so wrong. As I feel like the court is reserved for active players.”
