Marc Marquez Denied Ducati Corse Debut After 2025 Preseason

In a surprising turn of events, Marc Márquez’s anticipated debut with Ducati Corse for the 2025 MotoGP season has been postponed due  to concerns over his history of injuries. Despite a strong performance in the pre-season, where Márquez led the timesheets during tests in Buriram, Thailand, Ducati has decided to delay his participation to prioritize his long-term health and the team’s stability.

During the pre-season, Márquez showcased impressive speed, recording a lap time of 1:28.855, closely approaching the circuit record. His consistent performance positioned him as a formidable contender for the upcoming season. However, Ducati’s management expressed apprehension regarding Márquez’s aggressive riding style, which has previously led to multiple injuries. Team manager Davide Tardozzi stated, “While Marc’s talent is undeniable, we must consider the longevity of his career and our team’s success. Ensuring his well-being is paramount.”

Márquez himself acknowledged the risks associated with his approach, noting, “Risks are part of my style, a style that I have paid for.” He emphasized the importance of starting the season without physical issues, stating, “My most immediate wish is to start without injuries or physical problems.”

Ducati has not specified a new debut date for Márquez but has confirmed that test rider Michele Pirro will temporarily fill the seat. The team remains optimistic about Márquez’s future contributions once he has fully recovered and adapted his riding style to mitigate injury risks.
