Lewis Hamilton is statistically the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1. The Briton has raced at the pinnacle of motorsport since 2007 without any brief hiatus. It is thus no surprise that Hamilton has felt the need for a break from the sport on a few occasions.

 

The seven-time world champion admitted that there have been times when he was unsure regarding his future in F1. Lewis Hamilton claimed that at times he has wanted to take a long pause from the hectic season. The 39-year-old highlighted that unlike other sports, Formula 1 has no room for long breaks.

 

I don’t know how much longer I can continue. There are days when I would like to pause, a real pause, because you don’t have a really big pause during the season like in other sports.

Hamilton revealed that after all obligations for an F1 season is over in mid to late December, drivers start training twice a day from January. Moreover, the Mercedes driver pointed out that he also takes couple of hours of therapy during this period which leaves him with virtually no free time. With the new season then beginning from February all the way till December.
