Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a highly anticipated documentary centered on the legendary Finnish glam rock band, Hanoi Rocks. Titled “Hanoi Rocks: Born for Rock ‘n’ Roll”, the documentary promises to be a no-holds-barred look into the band’s meteoric rise, chaotic lifestyle, and lasting legacy in the world of rock music. The film is slated for global release on May 24, 2025.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Juho Kuosmanen and produced in collaboration with the surviving members of the band, the documentary features never-before-seen archival footage, candid interviews, and rare performance clips. Netflix teased the release with a minute-long trailer that quickly went viral, racking up over 5 million views in just 24 hours.

Formed in Helsinki in 1979, Hanoi Rocks became one of the most influential glam rock bands of the early ’80s, gaining popularity across Europe, Japan, and eventually cracking into the U.S. market. Their flamboyant fashion, raw energy, and punk-rock ethos helped pave the way for future acts like Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe—many of whom openly credit Hanoi Rocks as a key inspiration.
