The Swiss legend became the most decorated athlete at the Laureus Sports awards on Tuesday night when he was named Laureus Sportsman of the Year for the fifth time.
Federer, who recently became the oldest No 1 on the ATP Tour at the age of 36, is expected to play at the Indian Wells Masters next week.
He is still yet to decide whether he will play at the French Open in May.
While Federer has won 97 career titles all over the tour, there is only one tournament where he has a lifetime contract – Halle.

Although Basel is his hometown, Halle have offered Federer, who has won the tournament nine times, an invitation to compete there every year.
Federer first played the Gerry Weber Open in 2000 when he was 18.
Explaining the importance of it, Federer said: “I don’t even have such an agreement with my home tournament in Basel.
“It was important to feel the trust of Weber family straightaway, realising that their support would have made me happy.

“Players often came to me to say: ‘How is Halle? Great atmosphere, great organisation. You have to come’.
“The 10th title in Halle would be fantastic, something very special and unique in my career.”
Federer meanwhile, skipped Dubai this week, although he would have needed a wildcard to play at that tournament.
