Eddie Howe is confident 24-year-old Newcastle player is going to get even better
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is really happy with what he’s seen from Alexander Isak, but believes there is even more to come.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a bright start to the season, firing in seven goals in all competitions as Newcastle compete on multiple fronts.
His last goals came against West Ham, where he narrowly missed out on getting his first ever hat-trick for the club.
Isak had the opportunity to score a third but squandered it, and ended up hurting himself in the process.
Since then, Isak has managed just two appearances. He came off the bench against Crystal Palace, and was then forced off early against Borussia Dortmund at St James’ Park, and has not been seen since.
However, the Sweden international is due to return against Chelsea on Saturday, which is a huge relief to Howe, who is without Callum Wilson at this moment in time.
It is great to have Isak back ahead of a busy week, and he will look to carry on his impressive start to life in black and white. Since arriving in August 2022, he has scored 17 goals in 39 appearances.
The forward has been ‘frightening‘ at times, and he is a player who Eddie Howe thinks can get even better in the future.

Eddie Howe expecting even more from Alexander Isak
Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Chelsea, Howe spoke to the media. He was asked about Isak’s performances since arriving last year, and whether we have seen the best of the club record signing.
“I think we have seen the best of him,” he said.
“But I think the best is still yet to come. I think we’ve seen the best of him currently. If you go back to games against Tottenham last year where he was irresistible in his form, his movement, his finishing. That game really sticks in my head but there are others where he’s shown his quality.
“I think he’ll be disappointment with his last injury because he was on such a good run of form. He was playing with real confidence. Looked really, really fit.
“I think it was actually him trying to score his hat-trick goal is where he felt the problem. It was a real shame because he was in such good momentum at that stage.”

At his best, Isak is scintillating to watch. The way he goes past players is exhilarating – just watch that goal he created against Everton last season if you need a reminder.
His goalscoring record is impressive too, averaging almost a goal
every other game in Toon colours.
