Tom Holland reveals he and Zendaya have read script for Spider-Man 4
Tom Holland excited Spider-Man fans this week by confirming that he and Zendaya have read an early draft of the script for the highly-anticipated fourth film.
The British star, 28 — who has played the web-slinging hero since 2017 — made the big reveal while appearing on Thursday’s episode of The Rich Roll Podcast.
Although he and Zendaya think the script is ‘excellent,’ Holland admitted that ‘it needs work.’
‘But the writers are doing a great job,’ he teased.
The biggest challenge is working Spider-Man 4 into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Marvel Studios releasing upwards of three films every year.
‘Zendaya and I sat down and read it together and we at times were bouncing around the living room like this is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect.’
He did not divulge an information about the film’s plot during the podcast appearance.
Holland has portrayed Peter Parker/Spider-Man in three films: Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019) and No Way Home (2021).
He’s also starred as the Marvel superhero in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Before Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield famously portrayed the masked crusader on the big screen.
Meanwhile, Zendaya has starred in all three films with Holland as Peter Parker’s classmate-turned-girlfriend Michelle ‘MJ’ Jones-Watson.
In April 2024, Holland confirmed he would be returning for a fourth Spider-Man film.
A fourth Spider-Man film was first confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in 2023.
The Spider-Man trilogy starring Holland was helmed by director Jon Watts.
