According to our colleagues at Birmingham Live, Archer is ‘keen to get out on loan’ amid plenty of interest from Championship clubs.
Preston North End were said to be one of those earlier this month, with Derby County also linked along with Sunderland.
LancsLive soon learned that any departure for Archer would be at the end of the window, if at all, with Villa boss Steven Gerrard concerned about his squad depth should Ollie Watkins or Danny Ings get injured.
The Premier League club have been busy this month, signing Lucas Digne, Phillipe Coutinho and Robin Olsen. But up front, options are light with Wesley and Keinan Davis already loaned out.
