Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy is reportedly missing the Dallas Cowboys rookie minicamp this weekend due to health concerns, and NFL fans are worried. Many teams, including the Packers, held their rookie minicamp on the first available weekend they could, May 5th-8th. Mike McCarthy is missing the Cowboys’ rookie minicamp
According to Todd Archer with ESPN, McCarthy would not be present for the Cowboys’ rookie minicamp. McCarthy recently underwent a back procedure that was serious enough for him to miss practices. Archer reported that it was unclear if McCarthy would return for the organized practice phase of OTAs that will start for the Cowboys in two weeks.

That’s a development for fans to keep their eye on as the 59-year-old head coach is heading into a significant season for his career with the Cowboys. The Cowboys made the playoffs in two of his first three seasons with the team, but they have failed to make it past the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was unhappy with the Cowboys’ recent playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cowboys fired offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, and McCarthy has since taken over the team’s playcalling duties. McCarthy could need to show improvement in year four to keep his job. Jones hired McCarthy to do what he did in Green Bay, win a Super Bowl.
