A.J. Terrell, Clemson sadly:
Pros: Terrell enjoyed a breakout sophomore year in 2018 during Clemson’s national championship run
with three interceptions and 53 tackles. He came back last year with two interceptions (six in his three-year career), but his tackle production slipped to 34.
“Terrell has a good skill set and showed a lot of upside in his first season as a starter in 2018,” according to WalterFootball.com, referring to Clemson’s national championship run.
“Has the ideal size for the position and he transitions well for a taller corner,” according to The Draft Network. “Effective leveraging outside releases, layering coverage and squeezing routes. Good eye discipline, showcasing the ability to read the backfield while remaining in phase.”
Cons: He struggled in Clemson’s national championship loss to LSU, giving up143 yards and two touchdowns.
“It was a far cry from his previous performance in the national championship against Alabama that was right up there with some of the most impressive single-game tape of any corner in the class,” according to Pro Football Focus. “Terrell has some silky movement skills for a 6-1 corner and mirrored DeVonta Smith perfectly on an out-and-up in that game. While the results against LSU were ugly, he was still at the catch point for all of the big plays he allowed.”
Projection: Fourth round
