White Sox defeat Braves 3-2 in Garrett Crochet’s dominant performance, their first victory of the 2024 season.

Garrett Crochet put on another strong performance to help the Chicago White Sox win their opening game of the 2024 season. The South Siders defeated the Atlanta Braves 3-2 on Tuesday by mustering just enough offense and displaying some leather.

In the seventh inning, Paul DeJong gave the White Sox a 2-1 lead with his second home run of the year, a pinch-hit monster. Marcel Ozuna’s equalizing home run in the top half of the inning was answered by the game-winning home run. Had it not been for DeJong’s long ball, Crochet would have been declared the winner.

It would have been incredibly unfair to Chicago’s rising star if there had been no choice. Once more, Crochet showed off his genius, but this time against one of the best lineups in baseball. The only blemish on the White Sox’s Opening Day starter’s evening was Ozuna’s solo home run, as he struck eight batters in seven innings while giving up a walk and three hits.
