It was a crucial win for City, as it boosted the visitors’ chances of clinching a fourth successive Premier League title at the expense of Arsenal.

Postecoglou was incensed by the attitude of sections of Tottenham fans during the game, and made his feelings clear by confronting a fan from his technical area.

A video, shared by @Spurstek on X, showed the 58-year-old walking towards the stands and pointing at a fan. He then appeared to say, “I just want to know who you are.”

Spurs had the chance to get back in the game when Son Heung Min found himself one-on-one with Stefan Ortega, but the South Korean’s low effort was blocked as City maintained their 1-0 lead. Haaland then put the result beyond doubt via a penalty in added time.

Ironically, sections of home fans expressed relief that City beat their team

According to SPORTbible, some Spurs fans chanted ‘are you watching Arsenal’ , after Haaland scored the opening goal.

Postecoglou laments about fragile foundations

Speaking after the game, the Spurs boss was critical of the club’s attitude, especially from the fans.

“The foundations are really fragile,” he said, per BBC. “The last 48 hours have shown me that.

“It’s inside the club, outside the club. Outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise. It’s just my observations, mate.”

When asked about the home fans’ chants, the manager said, “I’m not interested, mate. I just don’t care. Maybe I’m out of step, but I just don’t care. I just want to win.”

What next for Tottenham?

Since Tottenham’s hopes for Champions League qualification are effectively over after defeat to Manchester City, focus will shift to a strong finish to the season.

Their final Premier League fixture is against relegated Sheffield United on May 19.

Manchester City, meanwhile, could wrap up the Premier League title with a home win against West Ham on the same day.
