West Brom transfer stance shared amid links to Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien

West Brom are not interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien this summer despite links this week, according to Birmingham Mail.
Writing on their official website (3 August), the newspaper report that reports linking the Baggies with a move for the former Huddersfield star are wide of the mark.
Carlos Corberan is interested in bolstering his midfield before the window closes, however social media rumours linking West Brom with a move for the 24-year-old are a “non-starter”.
West Brom
“Meanwhile, there has been no contact between Albion and Nottingham Forest regarding the services of Lewis O’Brien,” they wrote.
“Again, more rumours emerged online this week that former Huddersfield Town captain O’Brien, who worked with Corberan at the John Smith’s Stadium and helped the Terriers to a third-placed finish in 2022, was on Albion’s radar, but it’s understood that that, for the time being anyway, is a non-starter.”
No shock
It would have been a far bigger surprise if Albion were able to bring in O’Brien than it would have been to bat these rumour away and ignore them.
During his time at Huddersfield he was one of the better midfielders in the Championship and his relationship with Corberan was excellent.
But he has since moved to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest and had an absolute nightmare, which saw him eventually head off to the MLS to get some minutes after being left out of the Premier League squad.
He will want to play regularly wherever he ends up this season, but it’s also clear that he will be on a Premier League contract and it’s unlikely that we would be able to afford his wages and any fee th
at would be required.
