Taylor Fritz says he has only one thing to say about the Jannik Sinner situation before the US Open
Taylor Fritz has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Jannik Sinner ahead of the US Open.
The case had been ongoing behind the scenes since March and became public on the eve of the world number one’s quest for a maiden US Open title.
It’s a case that has been dominating headlines after sparking a mixed reaction by current and former players, with American number one Fritz the latest star to offer his verdict on the matter.

Taylor Fritz wants ‘consistency across the board’ after hearing Jannik Sinner news
Jannik Sinner explained that, because he and his team were aware of how the substance had entered his system (through a bare-handed massage), he was able to continue playing while he was fully compliant with the ongoing case.
However, Taylor Fritz pointed to other players who have been treated differently when it comes to failed or missed drug tests.
“Everyone is going to have their own opinion,” Fritz said in his pre-tournament press conference. “But it’s pretty irrelevant because the truth of the matter will always be between him and his team and I trust the whole investigative process was done properly.
“The only thing I will say is that there is a lot of people who get suspended and can’t play for a while because they miss their test, the random testing, which whatever someone might tell you it’s not that hard to miss a test or two, so people get banned for missing three of those.

“It’s hard to miss a third one, you should lock it down after you get two strikes. But there are crazy situations where that happens.
“A lot of people get banned for unfortunate reasons and I guess in this ruling they have found that it’s different and there is no ban and I trust he wasn’t at fault or purposely doing anything, but I just think it should be consistent across the board with bans and who gets banned and doesn’t get banned and who gets suspended and who doesn’t get suspended.”
Who is Fritz playing against at the US Open?
Fritz teamed up with compatriot Tommy Paul at the Olympics to claim the bronze medal in
the men’s doubles event.
