Jordan Love tragically lost his father to suicide
Quarterback Jordan Love has had a beautiful and emotional journey to accomplish his late father’s ambition of playing quarterback for the Green Bay Packers after getting taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. But beneath all of his success and wealth, Love has a tragic story of loss.
November 1998 saw the birth of Jordan Love to Anna and Orbin Love. Love’s father, Orbin, was a Bakersfield Police Department sergeant who started preparing his son for the NFL at an early age. Orbin played quarterback for his high school and collegiate teams before entering police enforcement.
When Jordan Love was younger, Orbin recognized potential in the starting quarterback for the Packers, even though it seemed like he was having trouble with the game. Love’s father helped and supported him all the way to the league.
Jordan was present at a basketball game when Orbin took his own life, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. In a high school gym, Jordan’s mother, Anna, was waiting amiably for her husband to drop off one of Jordan’s three sisters.Anna sensed something wasn’t right when Love’s sister told her that her father had gone back home to get something he had forgotten. Without delay, she attempted to contact him but got no response. Anna immediately went back home and found her husband’s body. Many were perplexed by Orbin’s suicide and wanted to know the real reason behind his terrible choice. Despite reports of mental health issues, his wife, Anna, has continuously maintained that her husband’s medication was a major factor in his death.
