What the 49ers’ prospective new contract with Brandon Aiyuk would entail.

There appears to be agreement between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on the most important matter when it comes to talks on a long-term contract extension.

 

During the NFL owners’ meetings last week, 49ers general manager John Lynch stated, “We’re actively talking with Brandon trying to figure something out.” “It takes two to tango, and we have a good history of working with the guys to get things done.” Can we do that then? We’ll see.

Nothing compares to spotting a guy early on, helping him grow, and then rewarding him. We would definitely love to do that.

 

A few days later, Aiyuk stated in an interview with the “The Night Cap” podcast that he wanted to stay with the 49ers.

 

Professionals are employed by both sides, according to Aiyuk. In order to continue playing professional football, maybe we can reach a professional agreement.

 

For the past four years, the 49ers have given high-paying long-term deals to draft picks. In 2020 and 2021, respectively, linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle inked record deals. Deebo Samuel, a receiver, signed a deal in 2022 that will pay him around $24 million year. Next, defensive end Nick Bosa agreed to a $34 million contract every year.

Reaching an agreement with Warner seemed to be the simplest. Prior to the start of training camp in 2021, on July 21, he signed. Kittle’s negotiations appeared to be more difficult. In August of 2020, he signed. Before signing at the end of July 2022, Samuel asked to be traded in April of that same year. And then there came the terrible Bosa bargaining. That involved a holdout from training camp but did not include a trade request. Bosa waited until the first few days of September 2023 to sign, to coincide with the 49ers’ season debut.
